OpenAI paid $1.1 billion to acquire Statsig!

OpenAI has formally formed an application operations team led by the new application operation Fedji Simo. On August 18, Simo joined the CEO of Instachart, who left office on August 18, and this Tuesday confirmed the restructuring of the company ‘ s executive position and a $1.1 billion product analysis firm acquisition plan.

The purchaser, Statsig, focused on the optimization of products such as A/B testing for the enterprise, whose founder and CEO Vijaye Raji will join OpenAI as an application CTO for the development of the products of ChatGPT and Codex, covering the core systems and product lines such as infrastructure and content compliance. Raj will report directly to Simmo.

OpenAI says in its blog: “As soon as the acquisition is completed, the staff of Statsig will be incorporated into OpenAI, and the transaction will require regulatory approval. Statsig will continue to operate independently and to serve current clients in the Seattle office. We will proceed with the subsequent integration with caution, ensuring business continuity for clients and maintaining a focused team advantage.”

At the same time, the company announced changes in other executive positions: Srinivas Narayanan, the former chief of engineering, who had led ChatGPT and developer API development, was promoted to the B2B Application CTO, which is responsible for all business applications at the start-up, large-scale and government levels and reports directly to Brad Lightcap, Chief Operator of OpenAI.

The current Chief Product Officer (CPO), Kevin Weil, will be transferred to the research department to serve as Vice-President of Science AI and form a new team, working closely with Mark Chen, Director of OpenAI Research. The original product team, including Nick Theli, head of ChatGPT, will report directly to Simo thereafter.
