As 2025 draws to a close, the “Annual Game” honour that has come to the fore in the game world is spearheaded each year by the “Golden Joystick Awards 2025” Award, until this day (4), when the final prize “Ultimate Game of the Year” was voted on, with 12 games competing for the first GOTY this year.
According to GamesRadar, the final year’s Best Game Award has a total of 12 entries this year, with the highest call this year for the Sun and Shadow: 33 Expedition (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), the widely-appreciated European medieval RPG, Saving the Heavens 2 (Kingdom Come: Defense II), the small island studio, Death On the Shore 2: Hades 2 and Heidis 2 of the Spectrum Barracks, all of which have three votes for each player.

It’s worth mentioning that the independent game team Landfall developed PEAK as a surprise for this list, and KONAMI released Silent Ridge f in the second half of the year, which is a positive for developing team mud.
This is the final year of the Best Game Award from November 3rd to November 7th, and the list will finally be announced on November 20th.
